The eyewitness was present at the fire-fighting works of
the wreck at night. From the rear turret of the
Manchester a heavilz wounded airman was rescued, it was
the AG Sgt Donald Hugh McPhail. Another airman was found
in the middle on Bahnhofstrasse, he was dead. The
brother-in-law of the eyewitness could confirm the
information, at that time he had lived opposite the fall
place. His parents and he had seen with fright, that the
machine fell on herproperty, but in the last moment the aircraft changed the direction and crashed into the towards recumbent farm. He had observed the fire-fighting works and the recovery of an injured person. |
 Der Augenzeuge war bei den
Löscharbeiten des Wracks in der Nacht dabei. Aus dem
Heck der Maschine wurde ein verletzter Flieger geborgen,
es war der Heckschütze Sgt Donald Hugh McPhail. Ein
weiterer Flieger wurde mitten auf der Bahnhofstrasse
gefunden, er war tot. Der Schwager vom Augenzeugen konnte
die Angaben bestätigen, er hatte damals gegenüber der
Absturzstelle gewohnt. Seine Eltern und er hatten mit
Schrecken gesehen, dass die Maschine auf ihrGrundstück zu stürzte, aber im letzten Augenblick änderte sie die Richtung und stürzte auf den gegenüber liegenden Bauernhof. Die Löscharbeiten und die Bergung eines Verletzten hatte er beobachtet. |
